Methane is the second most abundant greenhouse gas, driving 30% of global warming through human (anthropogenic) and natural activity. By accelerating the development of an economy-wide methane emissions measurement, tracking and reduction system, organisations will be better placed to leverage available technologies more effectively and to build momentum around their methane abatement strategies.

Collaboration across the full gas value chain is key to that momentum. Sharing insights about the deployment of technology solutions, enabled by the development of a Methane Emissions Starter Playbook, will help CLC members move from measurement to calculation of methane emissions.

Members have now scoped 3 pilot projects designed to trial and quantify the impact of specific technologies.
